Measurement for improvement is an important part of participation in the TOP Collaborative. Measurement tells us if we are improving and reaching our aims, helps teams communicate about their improvement efforts, and ultimately demonstrate the impact on the community.

The Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle is a useful tool for documenting a test of change. Running a PDSA cycle is another way of saying testing a change- you develop a plan to test the change (Plan), carry out the test (Do), observe, analyze, and learn from the test (Study), and determine what modifications, if any, to make for the next cycle (Act).

Effective Meeting Skills developed by The Dartmouth Institute as part of their extensive work in healthcare improvement.
Since time constraints is a common theme in healthcare, this approach addresses that by creating consistent structure to meetings, regardless of it being a 30 min meeting or 2 hours long. It involves establishing meeting ground rules, balanced participation through the use of meeting roles and a documentation process to track action items.
